Antiproliferative Activity of Triterpenoid and Steroid Compounds from Ethyl Acetate Extract of Calotropis gigantea Root Bark against P388 Murine Leukemia Cell Lines

چکیده

Calotropis gigantea has been known to produce bioactive secondary metabolites with antiproliferative activities against cancer cells. Herein, we extracted the using ethyl acetate from its root bark and further tested P388 murine leukemia cell lines. The subfractions extract was obtained Vacuum Liquid Column Chromatography (VLCC), followed by Gravity (GCC). subfraction C2 D1 were identified contain triterpenoids steroids most potent cytotoxicity Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT). A 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl) -2-5 diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay suggested that highest lines (IC50 = 21.79 μg/mL), as opposed 50.64 µg/mL) 49.33 µg/mL). compound in are taraxerol calotropone, respectively. Though calotropone active inhibiting leukemic lines, their IC50s lower than extract, which is probably due synergism of metabolites.

Novel compounds with antiproliferative activity against imatinib-resistant cell lines.

Chronic myelogenous leukemia is caused by the Bcr-Abl hybrid gene that encodes the p210Bcr-Abl chimeric oncoprotein. Although it reduces the total body burden of leukemia cells, the use of imatinib mesylate as a single agent may be accompanied by the evolution of resistance due mainly to the acquisition of point mutations. Imatinib has been combined with drugs that inhibit both the active and t...

In-vitro assessment of the antiproliferative and apoptotic potential of the ethyl acetate extract of Peltophorum africanum on different cancer cell lines

We evaluated the in vitro antiproliferative and apoptotic potential of the ethyl acetate extract (EAE) of Peltophorum africanum, a member of the family Fabaceae (Sond) in order to validate its pharmacological use. Antiproliferation of human breast (MCF-7), colon (HT-29) and cervical (HeLa) cancer cell lines by EAE was investigated using the Cell Titer-Blue viability assay and the mechanism of a...
